MEDICINE

The successful diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions ranging from a mild dose of cat flu to an aggressive form of cancer is all part of a normal day at the Sommerville Vet Centre. While we try and prevent illness we know that this is not always possible.

When you have a pet that is not behaving normally, perhaps not eating or has developed a lump we know how important it is to provide you with a diagnosis as quickly as possible and then answer the next question “will my pet get better”? Our sophisticated in-clinic laboratory combined with x-ray, ultrasound backed by external laboratory testing and referral mean that we can cope with any medical case.

CHEMOTHERAPY

As well as conventional veterinary and, in some cases, human medicines we can also offer individualised chemotherapy treatments for pets with cancer.

GENERAL SURGERY

Our purpose built surgical and hospital facilities mean that we can perform a full range of procedures and you can be assured your pet is getting the best surgical care. We have separate operating theatres, qualified veterinary nurses, intensive patient monitoring, intravenous fluid therapy and mandatory pain relief – everything your pet needs for a safe and comfortable surgery.

Our veterinarians and vet nurses have a huge volume of knowledge and skill on a wide range of surgical procedures, and well as the equipment required.

ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY

Our vets are able to perform a range of orthopaedic surgeries from repair of broken bones and torn ligaments to tendon repair and amputations. More complicated procedures will most often be referred for specialist treatment.
